Workforce Alabama investigates unemployment claims to ensure the accuracy of benefit payments and that workers are accurately reported.

Dealing with fraud

If you have received cash or a 1099, fraud could have affected your unemployment benefits. If you are a business owner who suspects your competitor is constantly underbidding you due to paying cash to their employees, let us help you put them on a level playing field.

Email us or download and complete the Fraud Tip Form and mail it to the address on the form or attach the form in an email and send it to TipHotline@labor.alabama.gov or call us at 1-855-234-2856.

Report instances of fraud and abuse

Has someone fraudulently filed a claim using your name and Social Security Number?

Has someone been claiming funds in addition to unemployment benefits?

Is someone committing Unemployment Insurance fraud or abuse?

Navigating identity theft

If you are a taxpayer and a victim of identity theft, please read Identity Theft Information for Taxpayers, an IRS pamphlet that helps you navigate what’s next. This information is also for those who received a 1099-G but did not receive unemployment benefits.
