Parent & Educator Resources
Lead others to what’s next.
When people start thinking about what’s ahead, they turn to those they trust for guidance. Whether you’re a parent or advisor, you play a powerful role in shaping their future.
From apprenticeship and training opportunities to protecting young workers, we’re here to equip you with the resources you need to help future workers on their path to success.

Apprenticeships
The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship (AOA) helps you connect students to sustainable careers and supports them along the way. The AOA focuses on a wide range of industry sectors, including construction and carpentry, healthcare and information technology.

Alabama STEM Council
The Alabama STEM Council works to help parents and educators encourage young minds to explore skills, careers and opportunities in STEM. Work-based learning and training programs support this effort, providing real-world experience for what comes next.

Child Labor Services
The Alabama Child Labor Law was enacted to protect working minors. The law prohibits children from working jobs that could be harmful to their health or well-being.
Protecting the future.
Part-time or summer jobs can provide teenagers with opportunities to learn life skills, acquire hands-on experience and earn spending money. At the same time, we want to protect working minors to ensure they have sufficient time to take advantage of their educational opportunities and maintain their health and moral well-being.
We’re providing resources to help you understand what hours and jobs teens can work and help prevent workplace injuries—because our future is worth protecting.
