Electronic Data Interchange
To reduce paper filings and promote efficiency, we use an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) method for the employer’s First Report of Injury or Occupational Disease—WCC Form 2, Rev. 6/2006. EDI allows paper forms to be replaced by automated electronic transactions, reducing errors and mailing costs.
Getting Started
Companies interested in filing First Reports through EDI should review the materials below and complete the Trading Partner Agreement packet. Mail or fax the signed agreement to begin the implementation process.
Acceptance of First Reports through EDI is contingent upon receipt of a properly completed Trading Partner Agreement packet and successful testing. Once implementation is complete, the EDI Business Coordinator will issue a confirmation letter.
Requirements
To file First Reports using EDI, companies must submit a completed trading partner profile, execute a Trading Partner Agreement and complete testing. The EDI Business Coordinator or EDI Technical Coordinator will notify partners when all requirements have been met.
For additional information, contact EDI Business Coordinators Christine Dunn at (334) 956-4032 or Earlene Holland at (334) 956-4031.
Standards
The Alabama Workers’ Compensation Division follows electronic reporting standards developed by the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions. These standards are outlined in the IAIABC EDI Implementation Guide.
